St Mary’s Hospital:
Decontamination Unit

The project comprised the remodelling and refurbishment of the existing Cardiac Catheter Suite to form clinically clean and air tight rooms for the cleaning and preparation of specialist medical equipment (endoscopy scopes).

The works included structural alterations to form new doorways and walls, extensive modifications to the existing mechanical and electrical installations and introduction of a new ventilation system, new partitions &ceilings, new floor and wall finishes.

Close co-ordination was required with the client’s contractors who installed the specialist clinical equipment in the final stages of our operations.

The site was located in the basement of the hospital in close proximity to the Audiology, pharmacy and other treatment areas, all of which were in full operation. Access was via the same corridors that serve these areas. Temporary sealed screens and mechanical dust extraction was used to ensure minimal amounts of dust escaped from our site. Close co-operation with hospital staff was required, and a thorough and constant cleaning regime was employed.

Works were completed on time and to a high standard.
