The works involved the removal of existing floor coverings and nosings (some containing Asbestos) from common part corridors and all main stairwells within the Richard Hoggart Building.

Remedial works including levelling and repairs to existing timber sub floors, followed by the laying of new flooring materials (carpet, vinyl and nosings).

The works were programmed to be carried out over 7 phases, in order to minimise inconvenience to students.

During this period further areas of work were instructed due to the adopted working procedures, which allowed the college to not only operate a full normal working timetable , with access/egress maintained to all areas but to hold examinations immediately adjacent to the work areas. .
